NEW DRUMMER
07/04/08
We have fouind a new drummer after what was luckily not too long a search.
He is Graham Bewley. We have been jamming with him since earlier this year.
And we are confident that he's up to the standard which will maintain the quality
in the way that our previous drummer did.
We will be gigging again by the summer. And also working towards the new album.
We'll keep you posted on developments.
NEW PHOTOS
ADDED 07/04/08
Some new photos have been added to the Visuals page. These were taken
from our recent gigs in London and Malta.
ANDY McLACHLAN
LEAVES UNSILENCE 20/12/07
Our drummer Andy McLachlan has recently left the band. This is due to his need
to devote more time to his Phd studies. We would like to thank Andy for his
four years of dedication to Unsilence and wish him well for the future. It is
also possible that he might work with us in the future on a stand-in basis.
So we are now looking for a new drummer. Contact
us if you are interested. Right now there's a few possibilities for a replacement.
So hopefully we're not going to be grounded for too long. Needless to say, our
album plans are on hold right now. But this will be the first priority once
we've found a new drummer. (Kieron)
NEWS
UPDATE: ALBUM PLANS & GIGS 25/09/ 07
We are now planning to record an album early next year. Plans are in the early
stages at present and we're yet unable to tell you anything regarding the recording
and eventual release. But all this will be announced in due course. The album
will feature new material including the four demo tracks on our myspace
page.
Forthcoming gigs of particular note include our gig in Malta with FORSAKEN
and NOMAD SON on October 7th. Other than the Irish gigs, this will be
our first gig abroad. And not before time! Then on October 25th, we support
doom metal titans WARNING, AGAINST NATURE and THE RIVER
in Manchester. See the gigs
page for more info. (Kieron)
ECHOES AWAKEN
DEMO 17/12/06
The new release is available now on the myspace
page where you can download the songs for free. Rejoice!
IMMINENT
NEW DEMO RELEASE 14/12/06
Over the last few months we recorded and mixed some new songs
using my laptop, Kieron's red firewire box thing that has multiple mike inputs
and some empty rooms. Not having done this before, it was a real experiment,
and we hope you are pleased with the results. We haven't released anything for
a while so we're going to give these songs away for free. They'll be on the
myspace page shortly. Just so
you know, we don't have label support or representation, so if you can help
us out, do get in touch. We'd like to do more recording in the near future in
a real studio environment.
On another note, in October we played in the Retro Bar at a gig staged by
Vman events. It was utter shite and we were disgusted by the amount of arsiness and lack of professionalism we encountered.
We were told to turn up at a specific time to soundcheck and the sound guy was nowhere to be found - he actually didn't turn up until the doors opened a couple of hours later.
Also, the sprout-faced promoter fellow, Mark,
tried to charge our girlfriends entry (£5!). He left the building as soon as we'd finished
our set, taking all of the door takings with him. He wasn't at all interested in any of the bands that played that night, and we'd never encountered anything
like it before. If there are any promoters who aren't unscrupulous sods in Manc, we'd love to contact them, but where does one
begin with this stuff? Most people we've contacted here in the city have been unforthcoming, self interested, catatonic gits.
A desire to play, enthusiasm, a cd, a conversation and an email to 'relevant' people just doesn't get us anywhere. If you have any tips for us,
they would be gratefully received. And don't tell us that we're struggling to get gigs because we're shite, otherwise we'll come round to
your house and poo in your bed.

page for more info.
GOLDEN LAKE
PRODUCTIONS CLOSED 07/10/06
Golden Lake Productions have now finished. Please don't contact them regarding
us. We have acquired the remaining copies of 'A Walk Through Oceans'. We would
like to thank Fraser and Graeme of Golden Lake for the work they did with us
and wish them all the best for the future.
BELFAST
GIG
22/08/06
We are to make
our third visit to Ireland on September 16 with a one-off gig at Katy Daly's
in Belfast. There may be another Irish date but it's looking unlikely at this
late stage.
DEMO RECORDING IN PROGRESS AND GIGS
20/08/ 06
We're in the process of recording and mixing a new demo. We're doing this all
ourselves using various kit we've acquired in the form of decent mikes and a
reliable laptop, and so far everything sounds great. We'll hopefully have some
stuff on the myspace page for
your listening pleasure in mid September or so.
We have a gig in Manchester at the Rampant
Lion on 5th September with Slugs
Ate My Parents. It should be a good one, so please come along. We've
been in touch with vmanevents and will hopefully
get some more gigs in Manc lined up in the near future.
And finally, to all of you who in return for one of the coveted unsilence badges
gave us your contact details at our gigs in Stockport, Ashton and Blackburn,
we're finally getting around to putting your info together so we'll keep you
posted with news of our releases. (Andy)

UPDATES
09/03/06
Various updates have been made to this site. Generally, they're visual and textual.
They're too numerous to point out but you'll probably notice them if you're
a regular visitor.

We now have our own page

There is a brief sample of a new song with Kil singing, so check it out.
GIGS
14/02/06
We're
pleased to announce our first gigs in over 18 months; these are of course the
first gigs with Kil singing for us. The first will be an all-dayer at the Thatched
Arms in Stockport (classy) on Saturday April 22nd. Not much is confirmed about
who else will be playing, although we yet again have the dubious honour to be
playing alongside R.B.H. The next confirmed gig will be at our old hunting
ground of the Witchwood, Ashton-Under-Lyne on Sunday April 30th. This gig will
be headlined by Yorkshire doom / death act THE PROPHECY and will also
feature some other bands yet to be confirmed. For more info, see the GIGS
page. We are due to announce some more gigs any time now. (Kieron)

NEW
UNSILENCE VOCALIST
14/2/05
Our guitarist, James Kilmurray
is now also handling the vocals. Since Hoddy left, we've been at a bit of a
loose end. We asked ourselves what direction Unsilence could take without such
a great vocalist, and the answer was, well, we weren't sure.
We put out some 'singer wanted' ads in music mags and attracted a slew of interest
which included >2 13 year old girls, >15 grade A nutters, and several minging
metal freaks. Those that survived the vetting process i.e. weren't total wasters
in telephone conversation (we weren't impressed by those who answered the ads
with txt msgs) were auditioned but none could really fill the void Hoddy left.
Confusion led to frustration, as we all feel passionately about our music and
sound, which without vocals was steadily going nowhere.
Kil then recorded a demo at home of a song he's been working on, and lo, he
sang. On hearing this, the way forward became clear - his voice is great and
already being in the band, he knows what we're about, which helps. Being more
of an axe / recorder specialist however, he wanted some time to practice.
So in these quiet months we've been doing a lot of writing and our new (sort
of) line up has come together brilliantly. We are really looking forward to
playing some gigs and we hope to record our new material by the summer. We'll
try to get a demo of one of our new songs online soon. (Andy)
LATEST UPDATE.
30/06/05
We are still looking for
a new vocalist.
In the meantime we have been working on new material. We have now completed
six new songs.
ANDREW HODSON LEAVES UNSILENCE.
14/01/05
Our longtime vocalist, Andrew Hodson has decided to leave the band. This is
due to personal reasons. It is an amicable split however. We are now be looking
for a new vocalist. If interested, then contact us at the usual email address.
We would just like to take this opportunity to thank Andrew for the excellent
contribution he has made to Unsilence in the eleven years he's been with us.
And wish him all the best for the future.
Unfortunatly, we've had to cancel our Doom Shall Rise III appearence.
